Foolish Talk

All this talk is foolishness
My good friend said to me
What you do speaks volumes
Not what you say but what they see
Talk is cheap and oft on sale
But actions can’t be priced
Try doing more while saying less
Your deeds will much suffice

I said to him I’m grateful
But words can sway the soul
I think a witness to true life
Can be sadly left untold
The combination matters most
An action paired with words
For what the eye may see
Can deepen words the ear has heard

He hammered out his argument
And tried to sway my thought
Such foolishness I said to him
To speak with words so cheaply bought
No action wins this hot debate
No deeds will make your case
Your words the only weapons
Foolish talk you now embrace
