Tectonic Shifts

From the shelf the trinkets fall
And shatter on the ground
Sentimental value lost
And fear grows all around
Tectonic plates colliding
Forces beyond control
Reshape the land we live in
A new future now unfolds
Some long to restore the beauty
Seen fragmented on the floor
Others see emerging hope
Where the past has now been torn
All that’s known is the aftermath
Where lives are torn asunder
Anger, despair and suspicion
Are the clouds we now live under
We look to the hills for answers
From where does our help come
Only from the depths of grace
From the Living, Holy One
The landscape matters little
When in his steps you’ve trod
Trinkets pale in value
When you find your life in God
