Morning Reflection

The middle-aged man in the mirror
Seemed like a gentle good soul
A bit rough he was on the exterior
But his countenance I was glad to behold
Or was he possibly not what he seemed
I asked as I stared in his eyes
“I’m a broken man now redeemed” He said,
“Or you’d be right otherwise”
And so I smiled back with a wink
Knowing I too had been lost and lone
I looked once again as I leaned on the sink
Giving thanks that his face was my own
