The shouting of her thoughts
is not heard beneath her smile
The pain she must endure
kept hidden all the while
If you meet her, says the Lord
don’t be fooled by her appearance
It’s her self-protecting armor
meant to keep you at a distance
The trust it takes to bare her soul
is weighed in metric tons
She has suffered far too much
the hurt and grief this day have won
But patience is the weapon
to fight through her strong defense
Just love her every day
and don’t be fooled by her pretense
The battle for her wholeness
is worth the energy it takes
for she has too much to offer
our collective soul is what’s at stake
