Changing Armor

My helmet is my wisdom
Self-righteousness my shield
A sharp tongue is my weapon
No ground do I freely yield
My fight is but a cover
For my struggles and my fears
I’ve worked so hard to make my way
And wasted many years
So I need to change my armor
And find what truly works
To help me make a better life
That heals instead of hurts
A helmet of salvation
And a shield of humble faith
A belt of truth to bind me
With gospel shoes to run the race
So come Lord God almighty
And strip me of my flaws
Dress me in your grace and love
Make me more than what I was
